CARE & MAINTENANCE
Wipe away dirt with a soft, dry cloth after play. Let the glove air-dry naturally away from direct heat. Store it with a ball in the pocket and condition sparingly with a glove-safe leather conditioner. Never machine wash or fully submerge the glove.
SHIPPING & RETURNS
Ready-to-ship items usually leave Miami in 1–2 business days and arrive in 3–5 business days. Custom builds are estimated at 6–8 weeks after your specifications are approved. Standard items may be returned within 30 days; custom and personalized products are final sale except for defects or rights required by law. Read shipping and returns.
The Kit Carlos Uses at the Academy
What's in the Kit
- Professional break-in mallet: Hardwood head, weighted for proper impact distribution without damaging laces
- Kachi Glove Conditioner & Leather Oil: 2 oz bottle of our formulated glove-specific product
- 2 ball storage bands: For shaping the pocket during the break-in process
- 1 official-weight baseball: Used in pocket-shaping
- Step-by-step break-in guide: Printed, written by Carlos Castillo — same method used at Kachi Baseball
- Microfiber cloth for conditioner application
The Break-In Method
The guide walks you through a 5-step professional process:
- Surface cleaning and initial conditioning
- Pocket-shaping with mallet and ball
- Hand-working the leather (finger stalls, palm, web)
- Overnight rest with ball and bands
- Final conditioning and game-ready inspection
Timeline: 3–5 days from first use to game-ready. Dramatically faster than the 6–8 weeks a typical retail glove needs to break in through game use alone.
Why This, vs. Shaving Cream and a Microwave
Don't use shaving cream — it dries leather. Don't microwave a glove — it destroys pocket integrity. Don't submerge it in water — it warps the shell. The old clubhouse shortcuts are myths that ruin more gloves than they help. This kit is the professional method, refined across 18 years of Carlos's pro career and a decade of academy use.

Japanese Kip
Lightweight, responsive feel with clean structure.
Designed by pitchers. Tested in Miami.
Kachi was started by two former MLB pitchers — Julio Teherán, two-time All-Star with six consecutive Opening Day starts for the Atlanta Braves (tied with Warren Spahn), and Carlos Castillo, who pitched for the White Sox and Red Sox across an 18-season career that took him through Japan’s NPB and Taiwan’s CPBL — where Carlos learned how Japanese Kip performs at the professional level.
Every Kachi pattern is field-tested at Kachi Baseball, Carlos’s training academy in Miami, before it goes into production. Built with Japanese Kip for a lightweight, responsive feel and clean structure. Heritage-flag embroidery is included on custom builds. Lifetime craftsmanship guarantee.
